PRE-AUDITION WORKSHOPS
Big Fish is a spectacular musical with music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa and a book by John August, based
on Daniel Wallace's acclaimed novel Big Fish: A Novel of Mythic Proportions and Tim Burton's much-loved
film.
At its heart, Big Fish is a powerful story about family, love, imagination and the extraordinary legacy we
leave behind. The musical follows Edward Bloom, a charismatic travelling salesman whose larger-than-life
adventures have become legendary. His incredible tales feature a mysterious witch, a towering giant, a
beautiful mermaid and the unforgettable journey that led him to the love of his life, Sandra. But are these
stories fact, fantasy, or something in between?
As Edward's life draws to a close, his son Will, who is preparing to become a father himself, is determined
to separate truth from fiction. In searching for the man behind the myths, Will discovers that the greatest
story Edward ever told may have been the life he lived.
Filled with breathtaking imagination, heartfelt humour and unforgettable music, Big Fish is a celebration
of storytelling, family and the enduring bonds between generations. Andrew Lippa's soaring score and
John August's warm, witty script create a theatrical experience that is both emotionally moving and
visually magical.
